Stephen Schueller, Ph.D

Executive Director

Associate Professor of Psychological Science & Informatics, University of California at Irvine

Dr. Schueller is an Associate Professor of Psychological Science and Informatics at the University of California, Irvine where he directs the Technology and Mental Health (TEAM) Lab, a member of UCI’s Connected Learning Lab, and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in the Clinical Psychology Training Program as part of the Public Service and Minority Cluster at San Francisco General Hospital. His research focuses on increasing the accessibility and availability of mental health resources through the use of technology. This includes the development, evaluation, and implementation of web- and mobile-based interventions mostly for common mental health issues. In addition to support from One Mind, he has pursued his research with funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the Jacobs Foundation, Pivotal Ventures, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He has received Rising Star Awards from the Association for Psychological Science and the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions, and a Mid-Career Investigator Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Technology Special Interest Group.

Kristy Palomares

Project Manager

University of California, Irvine

Kristy Palomares is the Project Manager of One Mind PsyberGuide, based out of the University of California, Irvine. She has a background in Sociology from Mills College and is dedicated to increasing equitable and culturally-humble access to mental health resources and technologies for all. Kristy has assisted in the development and implementation of projects funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and various public and private foundations. In addition to grant writing and program development, she has experience with community engagement, case management, and communications and social media management. Most recently, she oversaw the quality assurance of federal programs at an outpatient mental health and substance use community clinic in Los Angeles, California. Kristy finds joy in gardening, experiencing live music, and spending time with her loved ones and dogs.

Brandon Staglin

Leadership Advisor

Brandon Staglin is President of One Mind. Brandon served as Director of Marketing and Communications for One Mind Institute from 2005 to 2017, and as a Board Director for One Mind Institute and One Mind from 2015 to 2017.  Brandon also serves on advisory councils for the National Institute of Mental Health, the California Mental Health Services Authority, Mindstrong Health, and Stanford University’s Prodrome and Early Psychosis Program Network, and is a member of The Stability Network. He earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership from UCSF in September 2018, and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Engineering Sciences and Anthropology from Dartmouth College in 1993. He has received numerous awards for his brain health advocacy, including the Lifetime Achievement VOICE Award from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Clifford W. Beers Award from Mental Health America, the Shattering Stigma—Realizing Recovery Award from the Schizophrenia and Related Disorders Alliance of America, and the Clifford W. Beers Centennial Service Award from the Clifford W. Beers Clinic. Brandon’s lived experience with recovery from schizophrenia makes him grateful to be living in health and happy every day he can contribute to the health of others.

Matt Bowman

Matt Bowman was Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch. He was also Chief Executive Officer of Merrill Lynch Ventures and other private investment funds. In 2008, Matt founded RCT Logic, LLC. In that year, RCT Logic exclusively licensed intellectual property of Massachusetts General Hospital related to the Sequential Parallel Comparison Design (“SPCD”). Matt was also a founder of Fieldpoint Private Bank & Trust and of Ignition Interfaces (a software development company). He is a member of the Board of Directors of Ignition Interfaces, and previously served on the Board of Directors of Borg-Warner Automotive, Del Monte Foods, U.S. Foodservice, Active Health Management, Definity Health, MedAvante, Supermarkets General Corporation, and Teleport Communications Group. Matt is President of The Bowman Family Foundation (“BFF”). The primary mission of BFF is to improve the lives of people with mental illness and substance use disorders. BFF pursues this mission directly and through its not-for- profit subsidiary, the Mental Health Treatment and Research Institute LLC.
BFF founded PsyberGuide, and subsequently donated it to One Mind. Matt was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of One Mind, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society Foundation, and the Sylvan C. Herman Foundation. Matt attended Williams College, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa in 1969 and graduated summa cum laude in 1970. In 1972 he graduated from the Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar. In recent years he has studied molecular biology, neuroscience and biostatistics.

Michelle Liu

Digital Mental Health Specialist, App Review Lead

University of California, Irvine

Michelle Liu (she/her) is the App Review Lead of One Mind PsyberGuide, based out of the University of California, Irvine. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, from the University of California, Riverside, and her Master of Public Health in Public Mental Health from the University of California, San Diego. She is dedicated to increasing accessible and equitable mental health resources for different populations. Michelle has worked in the non-profit sphere on projects funded by The Public Health Institute (PHI) and the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) conducting different health promotion campaigns and community engagement initiatives in their community. She also has experience in conducting research studies in the academic world on topics such as design in the mental health and clinical research among adolescents. When Michelle is not at her desk, she is a competitive powerlifter and an overenthusiastic dog mom.
