BoosterBuddy is an app that aims to support teens and young adults improve their mental health. Upon opening the app, a selection of animated buddies appear for users to choose from. Once chosen, the buddy will guide users through preliminary questions about symptoms and introduce users to the app. Each day users are to complete “quests” to be able to interact with their buddy. Quests include mood check-ins, crisis planning, writing coping statements, and more. Once quests are complete, the buddy provides inspirational quotes and dresses up in hats. The app provides a library of coping mechanisms organized into different categories. Some categories are depression, lack of sleep, anxiety, delusions, etc.. Users can favorite the coping mechanisms as they see fit. Additional features of the app include assistance in tracking appointments and medication, self-care routines for specific symptoms (anxiety, depression, high mood, lack of motivation, etc), and a record of users’ previous mood entries.
