Quirk CBT is a cognitive behavioral theory (CBT) based app that aims to help consumers become aware of negative thought patterns and come up with alternative thoughts. Consumers first write down their “automatic” thought and are then asked to choose from a list of cognitive distortions which describe their thought (ex: catastrophizing, labeling, mind reading, all or nothing thinking). Afterwards, consumers are asked to challenge the thought by writing why it may not be true and then are asked to write an alternative thought, which is something they could think instead. Consumers can capture and save a list of the thoughts they have been able to challenge, and are also provided with psychoeducation around thinking patterns.
