“Slumber Time” is part of the Intellicare Suite* of mental health apps by the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies. Slumber Time is designed to help users improve their sleep. The main page of the Slumber Time app includes 5 main sections: “Sleep Diary”, “Bedtime Checklist”, “Worry Log”, “Slumber Reference”, “Healthy Sleeping Videos & Audio”. “Sleep Diary” prompts the user to complete a set of questions about their previous nights sleep to track sleeping patterns. Total sleep time is displayed graphically on the main home screen. The “Bedtime Checklist” includes a customizable list of bedtime practices for the user to check off as they complete them. The “Worry Log” provides a space for the user to jot down any worries keeping you up at night. “Slumber Reference” has information about healthy sleeping. “Healthy Sleeping Videos & Audio” provides video and audio for the user to listen to as they fall asleep, ranging from 10 minutes to 3 hours in length. Slumber Time can also be used as your alarm clock to wake up to your favorite songs and sounds.

Research on this App

“Slumber Time” is part of the Intellicare Suite of mental health apps by the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies. A 2017 trial of the Intellicare Suite found that users of the Intellicare apps showed a reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety after using 5 or more apps in the Intellicare suite over eight weeks. Another study by Lattie et al (2015) presents the uptake and usage of apps from the IntelliCare suite following an open deployment on a large app marketplace. In the first year of public availability, 5210 individuals downloaded one or more of the IntelliCare apps, for a total of 10,131 downloads. Nearly a third of these individuals (31.8%) downloaded more than one of these apps. The modal number of launches for each of the apps was 1, however the mean number of app launches per app ranged from 3.10 to 16.98, reflecting considerable variability in the use of each app.
